Mrs. Cooper

Summer 2013
Wesley, Monica, Owen (3) & Jonah (15 months)

Welcome parents and students! My name is Monica Cooper. I have been teaching first grade at Joyce Bullock Elementary School for 10 years. I have learned so much since I have started teaching. Every year I adapt my teaching style to meet my student's needs. I am always amazed at how much my student's help me to grow and change as a teacher.

In my classroom my students are my number one priority. I determine their needs and interests in order to drive my instruction. In my classroom, the students are involved in many discussions and lots of cooperative learning activities. I strive to instill a love of reading and always encourage questions and curiosity about the world around us.

I love to read and I love spending time with my family and friends. My husband and I have been married for 6 years. We have two wonderful and fabulously curious sons. Owen is four years old and Jonah is two years old.

Some books that inspire my teaching are:
The Comprehension Toolkit (Grades 3-6)

Book Character Dance 2013
