Mrs. Odom

Mr. Odom, Mrs. Odom, and our wonderful daughter, Attalie

Welcome to Mrs. Odom's page!  I am very excited to share a little bit about myself through this blog. I hope that it is easy to navigate and you find it helpful.
My name is Olivia Odom, and I have been a first grade teacher at Joyce Bullock for four years.  Teaching children is my passion, and each year I fall more in love with my job. I am certified to teach children whose first language is not English, and I am also a certified ESE teacher.  It is my philosophy that we need to get back to a place in education where we are instilling a love of learning and questioning in our children.  It is important to me that I try to stay away from teaching to a test or worksheet and focus on teaching our children.
I am lucky enough to be married to my best friend, Jason.  We have been married for six years and we have a beautiful little girl named Attalie.

Here are some of the many books that I use to inspire what goes on in my classroom.  I believe in creating a structured environment that encourages cooperative learning and intrinsic motivation.

This is what our classroom looks like during the "Daily 5" portion of our reading block.   Notice how the students are working independently, and on task!  Build that stamina!
